It's My Party and I'll Cry If I Want To

The title is from a song, which I can't remember who sung it because it was from yesteryears. Thanks to all of those who smsed and shouted out their birthday wishes, I truly am happy =)

Yesterday gc was late at calling me. I spent friday afternoon in the pool doing laps so as expected I will be drowsy very early on friday evening. Nevertheless, we had dinner in the 'junior district' USM old cafe, which is rather far if you went by foot, after doing laps in the pool that is. So gc was late at calling me. That is soo the point! Haha.

The plan was, 'Let's celebrate in Ipoh tomorrow'
'Ipoh? Yeay, around what time?'
'We'll go in the afternoon'

I had a million of things I needed (and still do!) to complete for monday. So on Saturday the 24th, around 1 pm I checked in on gc and asked him exactly what time we will be leaving. There was a sudden change of plan, we'd be leaving for Ipoh late late afternoon, say around 6pm.

'Pukul 6? Sy x nak blk lambat sgt eh..'
'Ala..jom la tgk muvi skali'
'Malas la..keje byk nih'
'Tp sy da book da muvi tikets. Isk. Tgk. Kan da tak suprise dah'
'Haisk. Ye la ye la..muvi muvi.'

Sheesh, its my birthday, why can't I have the upper hand? But then I don't want to be rude and not appreciate what gc has planned for me. Which is nice and refreshing since it'd always be me thats telling him how things go har har har. I was in a rather bad mood since I was attempting to do my engineering economics assignment. I just don't get that subject. Statics and fluid mech is much less confusing.

So we shifted from afternoon, to 6pm, which finally became a 7pm pick me up time. I picked him up and saw that he was wearing a propper (dressed up) shirt! Shit. I had on a long sleeved tee and jeans.

'Tak ckp mlm ni formal..ni da smat2 nihh'
'Nape plak, awk comel je' ngaha..thanks luv.really.sy.comot.
'Nak patah blk la, tuka baju'

I was just joking but he really took a u-turn at the roundabout. Before I left, jenga had just got back from a one day workshop and said she was going out with a friend. Which is why I was in no suprise to see her waiting outside our room. She hopped in saying she wanted to get a ride to pocket C, where her friend will be picking her up. (masetu da risau2 da..minah ni nak ikot ke ape nih..tp die mmg selambe so aku pon mls nak pursue her) a few seconds later, sara and yatt hopped into the car all smiling and each brought a sweater (gaye mcm nak tgk muvi) . Double Damn. I've been had!!

Gc couldn't stop grinning. Stop grinning. Its my birthday, not yours! Haha. Segan nye. Beriye ckp tanak tgk muvi bagai. Love u mister!! Thank you for making me happy. Sorry for being such a tough cookie =)

You're 23, Admit It

You're 23 when your birthday cards wish you the best of luck in finding or marrying the man of your dreams.

You're 23 when you start talking about anti-wrinkle creams. Ok, more about olay total effects. But no, you'd rather wait until you actually turn 25 to get it.

You're 23 when midnight movies aren't you're cuppa. It drains the life out of you, because now you've adopted a helluva holy habit of waking up and not sleeping back after 7am every single day of the week, weekends included.

You're 23 when your birthday gift from your parents comes in the form of designer bags and not barbies or walkmans or a play-doh hair styling unit.

You're definitely 23 when half of the varsity's population consists of no-one you know, eating in the junior district cafeteria scares the shit out of you.

I'm 23 today, yes im thankful for all He has blessed me with.

I am currently obsessed with the fact that I dont have enough time on my hand. I hate how everything that I look forward to must come to an end, sudden endings suck the most.

So, with that said. Is it fair if I still want to celebrate my birthday again, next weekend?

Look How She's Grown

It has been 2 straight weekends in a row that my plans have all went down the drain. They just gave way to other more important course of nature. Gc's grandfather passed away this afternoon whilst I was happily rowing my boat in my sleep. I've only met him once. Inalillah..

Al-fatihah

***

On another note, this picture was discovered in such a hilarious way. Friends A and Friend B grew up in different places but ended up in the same university, here with me. After 5 years of befriending one another they found out that they had spent pre-kindergarten years together in the same district, same street which eventually lead to the same play school, Taska Yumie.

So being the collector she is, Friend A brought back a piece of the past from somewhere in her treasure chest for all of us to see. And so first..carik tqa, jumpe? skrang..carik yatt.. hahahaha..I was in fits of laughter and it is so overwhelming to see that Allah has destined these two girls to be standing besides one another during play school, and to meet again when they have matured to a whopping 23!!

This editted version is my doing last night. I couldn't get over the fact that gc said I was the one with the red ribbon so decided to choose a kid who resembled me when I was in pre-school. I never had short hair before I became an independent bitch. Haha. Please take note that shada was the only one brave enough to wear earrings to play school (those sticker types) Haha. Only tqa and yatt were the true attendees of Taska Yumie, the rest is my doing.

Love each and everyone of you guys to pieces.

Will be missing gc.

Living in a song

Someone came up to me and said,
“You’re feelings are like the el-NiƱo, it comes and goes and comes again, unannounced”

Which was so friggin cool because I never saw it that way. I’ve been on a daydream high lately partially due to the fact that I spent so much time doing everything but daydream and when I get the time to myself, I was stuck in a maze I made for myself to be lost in. Haha, dizzy?

***

The only reason I listen to Travis is one.

But I’ve made other discoveries lately. My roommate has long been infatuated with the following songs and gc has long since sent me the Anna-Molly track, but being the late bloomer that I might be, I decided to take a step back and enjoy them thoroughly before I commit myself to practically live in them. That’s what I do. Listen to a song, remember the melody and when I’m curious enough, I go through the lyrics and that’s when bamm! Incubus will always have me hooked. Taken from their latest album Light Grenades, I’ve chosen three songs that haunt me everyday, doing anything and everything.

#1. Love hurts

Tethered and abused
Stand naked and accused
Should I surface, this one man submarine
I only want the truth
So tonight we drink to youth
I never lose what I had as a boy

This song is pretty as it is, meant for those who feel that they can not live without love no matter what happens. Love is mystical. Half-way through you might want to give up because it feels unrequited, humiliating, degrading us of our dignity and perhaps more. This is just what I feel when I’m listening to this song. So bloody pretty. Try me, ‘cause without love I won’t survive.

#2. Dig

So when sickness turns my ego up
I know you'll act as a clever medicine.
If I turn into another
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me.
Sing this song!
Remind me that we'll always have each other
When everything else is gone

Dig goes root deep to talk about moral values and how friends help one another no matter what. The love between friends goes beyond ego perks or even hidden skeletons. I dedicate this song to my good friends, you know who you are.. things have been tough between us but I know all it does is makes us stronger people. Love u to bits.

#3. Paper shoes

I'm tired of the way that it feels
I only apologized to you to make you feel better
I think I've outgrown that horsehair sweater
I'd rather be on my own
You're 'bout as reliable as paper shoes in bad weathers
But pain will roll off like water on feathers

I used to feel like this once in a relationship. Paper shoes in bad weather, all it did was beat the point of wearing them. In the end you know it was going to spoil so quick but had to put them on for the sake of it. I only apologized to you to make you feel better. I like to imagine what it must have been like to be in Boyd’s mind and come up with this. Would he have been perfect, since he knows how to depict every feeling so wonderfully picturesque in songs?

Let’s daydream some more. Perhaps I will bump into you.

Welcoming the Boar '07

Had a great weekend in KL. Really missed hanging out with my brothers. A total energy sucker they are. Eventhough my part was to decide where breakfast, lunch and dinner would be. Directions included. Haha. Not really up to much writing, the pictures should be ample to tell the story.

Friday evening, dinner with the siblings at D'rias (if I'm not mistaken) we just call it Kedai Acai since (my brother's friend) acai's dad owns our favourite western hangout. Selalu dpt diskaun.Sekian.

Saturday morning at the other end of Ampang.. had an early lunch with Naddy and El (naya was supposed to join us, but couldn't make it due to her eye infection, takpe naya..next time k?) at dome Klcc. El arrived a bit later so I had miss naddy all to myself. I was rather quiet. Haha tak biase la..sorry ye.

This is el. Very much like the personality portrayed in her blog.

No pictures allowed ye in KLCC other than the concourse area. Oh ye ke pakgad. Oh well.

Later that day my brother and I headed to Shah Alam to Cik Yati's house. Mama passed her some things since cik yati stopped by geneva for a meeting some time in late january. Cik Yati knew my parents since the day we were babies in Brussels. A long long walk down memory lane that was. Pleasant. Hope mama gets to visit her when she stops by Malaysia some time in the near future.

Early Sunday afternoon, the 3 musketeers headed out to Jln TAR. Ashwan had some things to settle there. And I went fabric hunting.

Saje2 je. Most of the shops were closed during the CNY celebration. Too bad.

But not sogo, tonnes of people, we were done by 3pm, good for us. Headed home and then all 3 of us ended up sleeping in front of the tv..hujan la~ haha..alasan.

Later that evening, my last dinner with the boys before I head back to Perak the next morning. Sara and her bf joined us too. Dinner at Kg. Baru. Jam packed like shit. Hoho. Sorry for the bad choice, but I missed the food there. Selfish tol.

Not yet done with the boys..had our little celebration at coffee bean somewhere near ampang point. Some one turned a year older~ Happy happy happy always. haha..senget2.

Aite big bro..Take good care of jijah, the other brother, the house, the injured toe-nail..the bills..thank you thank you.

And you!! Get your homework done, will see you again in march ok? Muah muah. Comot.

Well Wishes

I was supposed to be leaving for kl today. But an emergency arose and gc had to leave for melaka and I am left to arrange my own transport back to kl for tomorrow. His grandfather got admitted to the melaka general hospital, the doctors found some blood clot (I think) in the brain. But his grandfather is rather adamant towards the operation, as is the case with most old folks. They have a thing against hospitals and operations and surgery.

It was only yesterday during the talk by Y Bhg. Prof Emeritus Dato' Dr. Khoo Kay Kim that I was dreamily visualizing my shopping spree in OU. But, Allah has bigger plans and gc shall remain in melaka until the end of the chinese new year break. Its ok, I understand. We can always go out some other time and pick out my birthday present together.

For now, I shall pray that your grandfather is going through peaceful recovery and gets better soon.

Remains of You

Sitting up here rows behind you, I see the collar of your shirt and immediately, I am able to sketch the rest of you in my mind. I never knew that catching a glimpse of you could still hold me captive. Guiltily captive? Those cotton checkered boxes in red and blue seem to dance me a slideshow of memory snippets I had with them. It felt light years ago. Until the part where we had to sing the song. The last time I sung it, I was standing next to you. I was accused of being late and you didn't want to talk to me- that is until I found out the patriotic side of you that memorized the lyrics to the university's song and we broke out in attacks of teasing. Should I smile now? Or am I guilty of blatantly walking down memory lane with someone else?

I find myself constantly walking down memory lane, maybe its a girl thing (which I doubt) but I have tonnes of reminders of him just hanging around me like last years' confetti that nobody wants to clean up. The perfume box is somewhere in her drawers, I saw them when I was borrowing the dumbells, the numerous cars. The blue one. The bronze one. Those would last me a few moments of silence. Then there are the moments when I hang out with my close friends, and the next few riffs of "Flowers in the window" are spent in a cluttered self-made mess or utter ignorance. Next track please.

I haven't really made myself deal with the remains of him. I just felt like stopping cold turkey. And just as I realize I'm starting to get all the warm and fuzzy feeling inside from seeing him, I recall the hurtful things he said to me right after the break-up. Works every time.

Gory Monday

Our favourite past-time, 'on-paper chatting' usually during engineering economics classes at 3-5pm har har

Class was at 10am today, but apparently the lecturer had an EL. I found out at class whilst waiting for her to come. What a drag. I've got a meeting with the sv at 2pm today. I am in need of the properties of fiber reinforcements and seriously, I do not really know the difference between a - heyyy... I get it now! Haha. Pretty how things explain themselves, well sometimes that is.

My final year project is on hybrid composites and I've been pouring over composites volume fractions and will soon commit to more agony as today will be the next chapter - hoop and axial stresses. ( I am doing hybrid composites for pressure vessels, in case you are wondering where the stresses come in). Please please please let me get through this in one piece.

After eng econs class, the sporting lot --> gc, afeeq, sara and naz

I don't talk too much about him, but he exists hehe. Me and gc. Die mmg seorang budak yg ssh utk amek gamba cuz he can't sit still. Burok kan my face tgh marah die to put down the brochure and smile propper.

Facilities Eng is at 11am, then need to buy the Organization Behaviour book for rm65. Busy busy week ahead, gotta run!

Being Monumental

I have finished my wait for a prince charming. I am simply giving up on them. Now I know what they mean by pipe dreams.

pipe dream
n. A fantastic notion or vain hope.

I've decided that its time to look after #1 and that will solely be me and only me onwards. I don't want to share your problems anymore, especially those that weren't meant to be shared.

This act of coldness, I seek solace in because I think we have a long way to go before jumping to conclusions about the life we never had. So for now, its every man for him or herself.

It occured to me that perhaps my DNA trait is not tailored to be adjusted to another. It is rigid, will not bend nor suffer from anymore suppressing environments and pressure exerted in the past few days.

Aren't you glad this discovery was made today?

For a certain Berry

**a whole tub of ice-cream cake for naz's birthday celebrated last november, I had to clarify since she might be reading this, right naz?**

Birthdays used to be celebrated with much mirth, fits of laughter and definitely high sugar intake. On wednesday, a different mode of celebration was felt. This is our final semester and it was officially noted that this year, was the last birthday together (for only God knows where we will be during the next). I got out my magic markers and glittery pens to compose the most meaningful piece of birthday card ever.

Looking back, I've had the pleasure of observing my dear birthday girl and it got me walking down memory lane with her. How naive we were 5 years back, how we wore our clothes and what colour lippie we preferred when no one else in the world would acknowledge our presence. The relationships that had gone wrong and most of all, the beauty of understanding one another's heart. Yup, crayons and all, I think I made her cry.

Cheers now, its been 5 blastingly-memorable years/birthdays with you, and I am truly blessed with your friendship. Happy Birthday, friend!

Enino

Missing this bundle of fuzzy huggable baby that weighs 14 kg right now. Speaks fluent british english I might say. You learn mighty quick for a baby of 4 years. Your favourite show is..erm, everything on Children's BBC? And the walt disney production about the daughter of the last Tzar called Anastasia.

'I'm Enino, I'm 4', holds up 4 pudgy fingers, all except the ring finger .
'Whats this then?' I say as I nudge an adorably cute baby pot belly.
'Thats baby'
Right.

Seems that baby is what she calls herself. Ohhh. I must not forget that. *sigh*

My little cup of sunshine will be coming back to malaysia sometime in march. Can't wait to see you!! You've got a long way to go my dear. Let's get you off the right foot by singing Baa Baa Black Sheep together, this time with the correct lyrics, ay?

Vitamin Savvy

Influenced from my friend, it has always been the trend well at least for me, to get supplies in bulk so that when my pennies are a-counting, I will not have to worry about buying expensive supplements. I got a great deal from watson's and have settled my vitamin b complex, iron and vitamin C binge.

Smart consumerism goes hand in hand with ample research and background study of products that we consume. The following is something I picked up from my supplements.

Brands' Iron + Vitamin B Complex (which contains)

Iron -

Iron is needed for the production of hemoglobin and myoglobin (the form of hemoglobin found in muscle tissue) which requires this nutrient.

It is also needed for the oxygenation of red blood cells, a healthy immune system and for energy production.

Vitamin B2 - Riboflavin

Riboflavin is further needed to activate vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), helps to create niacin and assists the adrenal gland. It may be used for red blood cell formation, antibody production, cell respiration, and growth.

It eases watery eye fatigue and may be helpful in the prevention and treatment of cataracts. Vitamin B2 is required for the health of the mucus membranes in the digestive tract and helps with the absorption of iron and vitamin B6.

Although it is needed for periods of rapid growth, it is also needed when protein intake is high, and is most beneficial to the skin, hair and nails (definite bonus).

Vitamin B6 - Pyridoxine

Pyridoxine is required for the balancing of hormonal changes in women as well as assisting the immune system and the growth of new cells. It is also used in the processing and metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, while assisting with controlling your mood as well as your behavior. Pyridoxine might also be of benefit for children with learning difficulties, as well as assisting in the prevention of dandruff, eczema and psoriasis.

Women in particular may suffer from pre-menstrual fluid retention, severe period pains, emotional PMS symptoms, premenstrual acne and nausea in early pregnancy. Mood swings, depression as well as loss of sexual drive is sometimes noted when pyridoxine is in short supply and the person is on hormone replacement therapy or on birth control pills.

B12 - Cyanocobamin

Cyanocobamin is needed in the manufacture of red blood cells and the maintenance of red blood cells and it stimulates appetite (not really good for me), promotes growth ( I want to grow taller) and release energy. It is often used with older people to give an energy boost, assist in preventing mental deterioration and helps with speeding up thought processes. Some people are also of the opinion that it helps with clearing up infections and provide protection against allergies and cancer. This vitamin is also used in the metabolism of fats, proteins and carbohydrates.

Flavettes Vitamin C

Vitamin C is required in the synthesis of collagen in connective tissue, neurotransmitters, steroid hormones, carnitine, conversion of cholesterol to bile acids and enhances iron bioavailability. Ascorbic acid is a great antioxidant and helps protect the body against pollutants.

Because vitamin C is a biological reducing agent, it is also linked to prevention of degenerative diseases - such as cataracts, certain cancers and cardiovascular diseases.

Ascorbic acid also promotes healthy cell development, proper calcium absorption, normal tissue growth and repair - such as healing of wounds and burns. It assists in the prevention of blood clotting and bruising, and strengthening the walls of the capillaries.

Vitamin C is needed for healthy gums, to help protect against infection, and assisting with clearing up infections and is thought to enhance the immune system and help reduce cholesterol levels, high blood pressure and preventing arteriosclerosis.

Phew! What a long read. Keeps me on my toes and lets me know what it is I am feeding my system. I think it is good practise to read up on all our supplements.

Lost In Tambun

Yesterday was Thaipusam, celebrated by the Hindus of Perak so we had the day off. Its my 5th Thaipusam here in utp and I regret to say that I have never observed the traditions and happenings that took place during Thaipusam other than the stereotype idea that we all have of people poking themseleves with sharp objects as an act to purify the soul.

My girlfriends and I spent the day in Lost World of Tambun, a Perak version of the Sunway Lagoon. Upon arriving I realized that I left my 'bathing attire' and reluctantly had to fish out rm29.90 for a flimsy piece of tee. Bloodsuckers.

Entrance fee was rm21.90 for adults (it used to be rm21, the extra 90 cents was effective since the 1st of February) and rm16 for kids. We didn't rent the tubes, decided to play all the free stuff without the aide of a rm7 double-seated tube. It was blazing hot, decked in inches of sunblock, we braved the day!

There were 3 twirly tube ride-thingy, nothing much to it. A semi finished tube ride which we raced against each other and sought to be the one to reach the highest point of the semi-finished tube. (tqa and sara won, by the way) After that we went river trekking and were goofing off since there weren't many people yesterday. The man made beach or wave pool was boring. (Just so you know, I did not have any enthusiams to begin with when the results came out to 'a day in Tambun') The only thing I did enjoy there was the hot spring. It was nice and soothing, not too hot and it left us all drowsy and sort of drunk. Haha. We had been there for almost 4 hours in the blazing hot sun.

Pictures were taken when we were decent. The place is a really nice location for group photos. Pretty sad that this is our last semester together. The next event on the list is most likely Kellie's castle, mencuba satay di bota and perhaps an overnight trip to either penang or pangkor (again).

Final sem = holidayyyyy!!

*more pics most probably in ms.radio's entry =)
