My Wonderful DreamTeam 2

Today was the 2nd stage for the schlumberger interview.

"2nd stage? Bgus tak tu? Brape stage lg before jumpe bos? Haha, aku rase mcm game plak ade stage2 ni.. gudlak2" those were the silly words from my big brother. Thanks man.

The 2nd stage is known to be the toughest round because it is definitely crunch time and team work with people who all have the same objectives as you do, to outshine one another and try to score as much points as possible with the panel of judges present.

The task was to build a platform made out of paper, which had to reach 150cm tall ( they used my height as a benchmark, flattering or nott) hehe. And the fun part is that the platform must be able to support 8 golf balls at the top. Those were pretty much the rough guidelines for the group activity.

I was in group #2. We all got paper stickers and stuck them to our backs for the judges to see and evaluate us in the team project. My team mates were wonderful wonderful people. We clicked so well and there was no activity of abrasiveness that could injure our performance. We came up with the Wedding Cake, and some stupid reason the judges thought that one of us is getting married any time soon. Gee, wonder what gave them that idea??

My groupmates Firdaus (adik junior gigih sebok masok interview bdak2 final sem) Ros Hamdi, Ira, Bibiq ( my groupmate for Eng In Society) and Haidar ( my groupmate for Eng Team Project). I've pretty much worked with everyone on the group except for Ros Hamdi and Firdaus. But it wasn't a problem for us to get the platform up on all fours.

The beautiful part was that in 30 minutes, we had successfully constructed the platform!! KUDOS!! Then the moment of truth came and we held our breaths as haidar placed one golf ball at a time and when all 8 were placed on top our 171cm tall platform. We geared ourselves for the next test. The wind test. The judge then whiped his clipboard really hard and waited for the platform to fall. Amazingly, IT DID NOT FALL!! Double kudos!! Present2 some bits and bobs on the platform etc etc..

Pehtu da petang, Ira, Haidar and myself got through to the 3rd round. The 3rd round was kind of challenging, because we try to be original but still say what they want to hear. It was a 1-on-1 interview but I got 2 interviewers instead. I think I was grilled well-done especially when they toy with the fact that I am a woman, and the rig is no hotel or spa. I just spoke what was on my mind, try to convey my message well and I knew I did my best. Now all I can do is wait.

** FYP tak siap lg, sv nak tgk friday morning at 830 am. Feasible? Mcm tak jek.. And puan noni plak buat open house time2 aku bz nak mampos nih..I think I must decline her invitation then. Too bad. On the other hand some geniuses decided to make the test a take-home assignment which could have been done before last friday so I could've gone back home. Stupid.

TEC '07

TEC babes! Technology Education and Careerfair. I think thats what it stands for. Its UTP's own career fair, although I have to say that it is rather one sided. All the companies that took part were all oil and gas companies. There were none to accomodate manufacturing, automotive or even chemical industries. Not everyone from UTP wants or have interests in oil and gas. I'm just venting out for the behalf of those who feel frustrated and pissed at the same time, kan naz kan?

In the morning we had rounds of interviews with Cooper Cameron, and Schlumberger's 1st round of screen tests-cum-interview.

We were the early birds. Zakiah and naz.

Berfoye2 di ruang hallway. Haha.Pastu da kne sound taleh lalu situ da.

I picked out a piece of paper which asked me which type of working environment do I prefer working in. That was okay, simple and non-technical. Some people got technical questions. Which is tough. Especially if you have no idea what the word means. Huhu.

Afeeq Fadhlan.

Tipot and naz yg suda pandai gedik2 amek gamba. Sape tah aja die nih.

My housemates! They came lepas test for the interview. Yatt, aireen and shada.

Naz, ira, iman and irzee.

Pas puas interview ngn rakus skali, we headed to sara's lab at block 16. The prototype lab. Eh silap, the rapid tooling and rapid prototyping lab. I'm sara's official helper. Sara is working on a miniature replica of Masjid An-Nur of UTP. They will probably end up being magnets or something like that. I get to keep the resin models though =)

That is two mini masjid I've got on a tray.

Di TEC ada ayamas. We had to queue like forever. Our last TEC together. Huhu. Sob sob.

Balloons

It's almost time. I can see the glue that made us stick together for so long is slowly peeling off. Its usually like that. The new will age, start to lose adhesion and peel off. Year after year we put things back in sticky order and place another layer of glue, so it'd stay stuck together. It worked just fine for the past 5 years now.

But it's only been 2 years with you.

The heat, and the sight of the horizon closing in instinctively has me preparing myself to loosen my grip. Things will be different after this, unclench. I must let go.

Everything I've felt seemed so promising. But I know its because we've been kept safe in a fucking balloon. The balloon will cease to exist after graduation. Everyone else will go on with their happy lives. And I am left with postcards of the photographs we took.

And since I'm such a heartbraking sport, I'll hang around till the candle dies.

Painting the Background

Pirates ahoy~

I have a thing for mint leaves these days. Buy a sprig of mint leaves, a handful of those small lemons species and a tub of honey. Mix and mix and add plenty of ice et voila! A totally superb refreshment to have in the summery hot afternoons, like every afternoon. And interestingly enough, mint is good for digestion. I was actually looking for a caffeine substitute since I have grown a serious habit of making my own macchiato after lunch to last me through till the evening. My parents have always considered me to be the milk type. During my last stay with them in late December, ayah came home with a 6-pack of 1 liter milk cartons. 'Die nak awk membesar' hoho dad, nak besa mcm mane lg nehh.

Petronas scholars are getting rm500 a month nowadays. It has resulted in careful monetary budgeting, waves of room raiding and lost of personal belongings as well as poor diet of tined sardines and roti canai per day. Mine would be the first mentioned above.

I discovered malaysia-today.net, it has some serious but interesting reads. Makes substance for a good (but dangerous) conversation. I think I miss talking to my dad now more than ever. All the small things are irrelevant on their own, but in any sense, paints our lives in multicolor tones and hues. Magnifique.

The O.C. '07

One fine gc morning. Eh silap =P One fine saturday morning, I successfully woke gc up and had him ready by 9 am. Sharp. Kudos luv. The outdoor carnival 2007 was just about to kick start a glorious 2-day event for any outdoor enthusiasts. Our awaited event at 9, the minigolf had not yet completed their booth, so we hung around and decided to join the kayak flag picking competition which did not have many people participating in it. It was 9 am still, and no one was around. I was not about to wait all day for history to create itself.

Flag picking was torturous!! 5 check points and my arms are clearly not the strongest part of my body. My jeans and everything got wet. Poor gc probably had to supply all the horsepower for us to complete the route. But I think I did a good job of rowing, too. Kott laa. It was a wonderful experience for the both of us. Purely refreshing. Great way to test your communication and teamwork with your partner.

After kayaking, we were pumped and I was starting to ache around my forearm areas. Oh shit. Rest and recouperate while playing a round of minigolf. The course was simple and at this point in my sea sailing love life, any game is fun with gc. Haha.

Met the girls around 11 (betuah nye bebudak bgn lamat btul) here we are in the go-kart pit stop area. I'm not too keen on go-kart, in areas not designated for that kind of activity. Plus it was rm10 for 5 laps or something. Tres cher.

Yatt in her go-kart.

Cinod had with him a 300mm lense that day. The power of zoom mannn..seriously!! Jenga as always, harus be there in the pic. Hehe.

Next we tried to fly like a fox. Wanna see the power of zoom? The above pic is taken with my ixus 60 4x digital zoom so it sucks. And below is with cinod's D70 300mm lenses.. Tada~~

Tarzan in a tee!! (sy nak gamba ni, 8R tau)

Mini Bikers on mini bikes. Crazee. Yatt and sara the police patrol units of bandar sri iskandar gitu~ the girls actually wanted to try mini bikes. And I got tickets for gc to play. Rm5 for 8 laps. Ok laa..cute outfits tho. Very colorful, makes the pictures all nice and pretty.

Gc nak gak rempit wpon on two wheels. Of course he outshined the girls. Kasi berasap sket litar tu ye. And lo and behold. I also bought a ticket. Initially I wanted to go and play with gc since the girls are paired to go together. He somehow sprinted off without me and here I am riding the bike all alone. I hate motorbikes. Even these small puddy things.

In the background is the Masjid An-Nur of UTP. Something we have all taken for granted and will truly miss. Huhu. And below, last pic of mister teror on mini wheels, taken by qambin of k5.

*its 5.40am in the morning and i had just finished my fyp poster =)

Whimsical Quizzical

So I did some self-pampering-soul-defining last night. I asked a stupid question, which in turn gave me a smack right in your face answer. Delicious. It was a personality trait question. There.

I've been watching too much of f.r.i.e.n.d.s. and now think that he should too. To think that I've been happiliy sailing the sea of love with him when all along he thinks I make a bad classy is just too big a shock.

Is it true that girls fall much more harder in love? I've been living in my fantasy that we've sailed the 7 seas in beautiful weather and he thinks the sails are all crooked now. Fix it, please.

I never thought you were perfect since the beginning, so there is no reason why either of us should change to satisfy that myth.

Bloody emotions. Aye aye that.

Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta

Welcome to Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta. My Organization Behaviour class went there as an educational trip last Tuesday the 28th of March. We had just finished covering a chapter on stress management.

We went as a group of 30 I think, and the hospital had a visit all planned out for us. We didn't know what to expect and my friends and I went just because we didn't think that we would go on our own even if we had the chance as opposed to going in a big group. Haha. Scaredy-cats.

This is Puan Noni, our class instructor. She's an excellent lecturer which makes the class a so much more fun.

We got the chance to visit the Women's Pre-discharge ward. One of the patients shared with us a poem or two but neither of us had any to share with her. This picture shows the crowd listening to the nurse's explanation about the patients' lifestyle. Some of them who are without any relatives even go to work in nearby factories.

The hospital has a massive flow of green all around it. It is around 500 acres of soil, with more projects on the way. So many trees and hills and places for the patients to hide-out if they succeeded to break out of their ward. But we didn't see any.

This is the men's Telephone Ward. Years ago this ward was the only one which had the telephone, thus the name. This was around lunch time, and we were assemblying in the cafetaria area and the patients were all getting ready to head our way. Neves tak neves. Haha. Nothing happened though. It was all safe. Because the real dangerous ones were placed in the Forensic Ward, the fresh cases of vountary murder, suicidal cases etc.. The Forensic ward is like a jail from afar. 21 ft tall walls barbed wire and full surveilance. We didn't get to go there.

Then we got to do some exploring in the Hospital's museum. Below are pictures of how the patients had their lunch years ago. Pretty sad, huh?

Mari mari mari..lauk panas2.. huhu

And a last one for the records! All of these in the pictures are my mechanical classmates! Ha ha.
(L-R) naz, tahee, sara, hatta, madcah, rejal and afiq at the bottom.
